The Rec Hotel, Northam

Spent 2 nights across the road in the new units. Lovely, clean and quiet. The pub itself absolutely charming. Cannot compliment the staff enough . Thank you Lisa and Trinity 2 of the nicest people, so helpful and nothing was 2 hard. A great asset to the pub. Food was awesome and serves were generous. We enjoyed it so much, we are going to go back very soon.

Watch your bank account... Was charged twice for 2 rooms when we only booked one. The website initially said that the room we were trying to book was unavailable, so we chose another room. We were then charged for 2 rooms instead of one, the day after we stayed (their excuse was we were a no show). When I explained that their website said was unavailable so we had to rebook, they still tried to argue their way out of it saying it didn't matter. Took me 3 weeks to get my refund for the room we didn't stay in, after charging my account which I didn't authorise to be charged. No apologies from the hotel. To top it off, we were charged a mini bar fee for a bottle of wine when myself and partner don't drink due to health issues. Was told by management they believe their staff and not myself. I will be following this up with consumer affairs. We are new to town and this would have been our local for regular dinners. Me and my family will never step foot in there again. Disappointed.

We just spent a lovely weekend at The Rec in Northam while we explored the region. Enjoyed a delicious meal at the restaurant and although it was extremely busy, the very friendly and attentive staff looked after everyone and the delicious meal was worth the wait. Would definitely recommend and make sure you book in for dinner too.

Our stay in 33 was fairly decent, the room was clean with a great shower, air con, mini fridge, basic cutlery and microwave. The bed wasn't good, very hard and made for very poor sleep and waking frequently/very sore. The staff were great, very helpful and excellent customer service, the pub meals were spot on, they do a great parmi and steak. A little disappointing to hear they sold the pool table and replaced it with a ping pong table tho 🤔 Also not the businesses fault, but had property stolen from right outside our door overnight on the first night which was worrying. Our room was furthest from the road and it was hidden behind a tree and an outdoor table setting so they were having a good look around. Heard from 2 different locals that they frequently see dodgy people coming and going late at night after having a look through the parking lot and that the street has a few unsavoury characters around. May be worth installing cctv or something to make guests feel more secure and deter theft. Also worth mentioning to future guests to keep all property secure and locked up.
